Cherry-Poppy Seed Twinks cookie recipe

I loved these cookies as a kid – I thought the cherry preserve on top was the best! I would go for the cookie with the BIGGEST cherry on top!


  • 1 C powdered sugar, 1 C margarine.  Mix til light and fluffy.
  • 1 t. vanilla, 1 egg, and to above and mix well.
  • 2 c flour, 2 T poppy seeds 1/2 t salt.  Stir in and mix well.
  • Chill dough 15 minutes.
  • Drop by spoonful on cookie sheet.
  • Press thumb in cookie and put in cherry jam.
  • Bake 300 degrees 20 to 25 minutes until edges are light brown.
  • Remove from cookie sheet immediately.
