Nutella Muddy Buddies recipe

We’ve all made Muddy Buddies before, right? Well, being pregnant, I crave all kinds of chocolate – and I thought “why not use some Nutella?!” The original recipe calls for 1/2 cup of peanut butter, so I thought I’d keep half the peanut butter and recipe half of it with Nutella. I made a mini-batch for myself last night and really liked it! What do you think?

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup Nutella
  • 1 package (6 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips (1 cup)
  • 1/4 cup margarine or butter* *Do not use spread or tub products.

9 cups Chex® cereal (any variety) Measure cereal into large bowl; set aside.

Microwave chocolate chips, peanut butter and margarine in 1-quart microwavable bowl, uncovered on High 1 minute; stir.

Microwave 30 seconds longer or until mixture can be stirred smooth.

Stir in vanilla.

Pour chocolate mixture over cereal in bowl, stirring until evenly coated.

Pour into large plastic food-storage bag; add powdered sugar.

Seal bag; shake until well coated.

Spread on waxed paper to cool.

Store in airtight container in refrigerator.

9 cups snack.

Important: Because microwaves cook differently, time is approximate.

Range Top Directions: Measure cereal into large bowl; set aside. Heat chocolate chips, peanut butter and margarine in 1-quart saucepan over low heat, stirring frequently, until melted. Remove from heat; stir in vanilla. Continue as directed above.

I am glad I am not the only one with the thought to add Nutella. Thank you for your recipe. Making them now!

You forgot to mention what part of the recipe to add the nutella in. I assume it’s before you microwave everything. I made it and ended up having to add milk because the chocolate was really thick. It ended up working really well after I added milk.
