Aunt Patty’s Plum Chutney recipe

Yield: 3: ¾-1 Cup (1/2 Pint) Jelly Jars

  • 3 ½    Cups Purple Plums – half & pitt
  • 3 ½    Cups Granny Smith Apples – peal core & chop
  • 1 ½    Cups Onions – Chop
  • 1        Cup Sugar
  • 1        Cup Brown Sugar
  • ¾       Cup White Vinegar
  • ¾        tsp. Allspice
  • ¾        tsp. Clove
  • ¾        tsp. Ginger
  • 2         tsp. Salt
  • ¼        tsp. Cayenne

Simmer 1 hour until thick.  Put into sterile Jars.  Process 25” in boiling water bath – 7,000’.

Notes:

8/01  above recipe made 3 jelly jars: (4 large granny smiths & 20 small purple plums)

9/01 made 5 jelly jars (3 large g.s. & 12 small & 2 large plums)
