Dennis Bajcar with Erie Nutrition provided me with a sample of Cookies ‘n Cream Nutritional Shake Mix to try and review. It’s a protein powder you add to water or milk.
I tried it before going to water aerobics, hoping to find a new breakfast solution that I wouldn’t get pregnancy heartburn from and also something sustainable for a workout.
The pack of protein is .88 oz, so my Biggest Loser scale rounded up to .9 oz.
I added the recommended 8 ounces of organic milk and mixed it in our bullet blender.
The texture was very smooth, even with the cookie bits in it.
I liked the creamy consistency- part of which might have been because I used 1 percent milk (instead of skim or water), but still: it was very easy to drink. 🙂
1 packet has 90 calories, 1 gram of fat, 200 mg of potassium, 11 grams of carbs (5 of those being sugar), and 9 grams of protein.
For those with food restrictions, it contains wheat, milk and soy ingredients.
The verdict? I liked the flavor, consistency and didn’t get pregnancy heartburn during or after class. My energy level felt great (relatively speaking for a full-term momma-to-be). 🙂
