new Baby Bargains book

I just got the new 2010 version of Baby Bargains in the mail today. It’s a book several people have recommended to me, as I ask about cribs and strollers via Twitter & Facebook.

So I cracked open to the first page and it starts with brass-tacks: The Average Cost of Having a Baby (based on industry estimates for a child from birth to age one)

  • crib, mattress, dresser, rocker $1500
  • bedding/decor $325
  • baby clothes $600
  • disposable diapers $860
  • maternity/nursing clothes $1130
  • nursery items, high chair, toys $475
  • baby food/formula $950
  • stroller, car seats, carrier $600
  • miscellaneous $600

TOTAL $7,040

So I’m very happy I bought this book. I want to buy safe products for our baby, but not break the bank on unnecessary items.

Happily, there’s no advertisements in Baby Bargains, so I’m expecting straight-shooting reviews and great tips.
