It’s March! Time for a new Fitness Challenge!

I did NOT do well with February’s fitness challenge. When I did do wall squats, I did them well, but our household was sick for 3/4 of the month. I had a cold, that turned into a sinus infection, then the flu – so there’s my “excuse” for not completing the challenge.

Today is March 1st, so I am wiping the slate clean and starting fresh with a new challenge. 🙂

This month, I am going to jump-start running again.

Since I don’t think I can even run a minute (straight), I am going to start with something realistic: 30 seconds.

Every day, I will walk/run 30 minutes (total). Since I will be pushing a stroller, I will achieve this either outdoors or with an indoor track. You could easily do this on a treadmill, sans baby & dogs.

Today, I will run 30 seconds and walk 25.5 minutes, totaling 30 minutes.

Everyday of the month I will add 30 seconds of running to the mix, until the last day, I will be running 15.5 minutes and walking just 14.5 minutes.

The goal is to increase running time. I am probably going to treat this challenge as intervals, instead of running it all in a row.

There’s really no “before” picture for this challenge. But I will share that after having the flu and doing about 7 minutes of wall squats in February, I lost 1 inch around my lower waist (2.5 inches below my belly-button line) and 3 pounds since I last weighed in. (I actually lost more than that over having the flu, but have “balanced out” at T minus 3 pounds).

I am with you…the hardest part for me will be trying to find the time to walk/run each day. I am thinking I might have a goal of running X minutes by the end of the week, and then getting there when and how I can throughout the week.

I agree, there will be some days I can’t get out there for 30 minutes. Are you shooting for 210 minutes a week?
