first injury – so soon?

I was a bit sore after the Eerie Erie, but I remarked how much I love my new running shoes because my knees were not sore.

After resting on Sunday, on Monday I did the stair-stepper and stationary bike at the gym… 20 minutes each and felt great.

Tuesday was a crazy work day, so I skipped working out. 🙁

Wednesday, I went to the gym and lifted weights. When I was doing leg extentions, I stacked on a whole 10 pounds of weights and it was hard to do.

On Tuesday night, I saw a Biggest Loser player run 1-minute at 9.0 MPH. I wanted to try it – I was able to do it twice and then jogged/walked the rest of the 15 minutes.

Afterward, I thought I overdid it with the 9.0 running, but my knees didn’t feel strained during it. I’m really pretty sure I messed up my knee doing leg extensions.

I was already having a tough work day, so the realization of my knee being injured really threw me over the top. So I called my friend, Lori Lloyd, and asked to get scheduled for an acupuncture treatment. She could get me in the next day. Super.

The treatment went well and I noticed the swelling went down right away. She told me to take it easy for a few days and then when I felt like things were back to normal, to resume a swimming/cycling exercise routine (ease into things). Deal!

So it’s Saturday and I have three portrait clients this afternoon… I hope that’s considered “taking it easy.”

In the mean time, I can ice it between sessions.
