Desperate: Hope for the Mom Who Needs to Breathe | personal book review

Almost a year back, a friend from church emailed me with the link to (at least I’m pretty sure that’s what it was, it’s now just because she knew I enjoy Christian-based blogs, writing and reading.

I happen to already follow Sarah Mae on Instagram, so I was excited to have the two overlap!

Soon enough, I noticed that Sarah Mae was finishing up a book and then suddenly going to book signings and her book was quickly highly rated.

A MOPS friend said how badly she wanted to read the book – the title alone made her intrigued: Desperate: Hope for the Mom Who Needs to Breathe.

One day, Sarah Mae posted on Instagram the Kindle edition was on sale, so I zapped over to Amazon and purchased the book.

I loved this book because….

  • she partnered with  her long-time mentor and friend Sally Clarkson to share their pen-pal-like journey of motherhood
  • they both shared their journey as a Christian mom & wife
  • each chapter had a specific topic that can resonate with just about any mom on varying levels
  • they include a QR-CODE to scan and watch a follow-up video with Sarah Mae & Sally debriefing each chapter (made it very personable)

Overall, I walked away from this book feeling the importance of being intentional about finding in-real-life mommy friends who share the same faith to do life with. It’s also key to find moms of varying ages, so that mentor/mentee relationships happen.

If I would have gotten the hard-copy, I’d be lending it out to friends… I gave it 5/5 on Goodreads. 🙂
