Little Dude is a rather picky eater, so I have been THRILLED anytime he tries a “new food” that he’s previously rejected.
This week, it’s been strawberry Greek yogurt with chia seeds!
Greek yogurt is a great source of protein (about double the protein compared to regular yogurt) – a concern I’ve had since he doesn’t eat meat yet. And he doesn’t get much plant-based protein, either.
Of course the goal is to get to that point (someday) but he’s just a little guy… so I’ll take what I can get! 🙂
Greek Yogurt was on sale for $2.85 at Vitamin Cottage this week and I buy chia seeds in bulk… I’d have to dig out the receipt to find out much, but I’m thinking $5 or less to fill this container. We use 1/2 teaspoon to 1 teaspoon at a time.
You can click over to see nutritional values of chia seeds, but they contain “healthy fats” (omega fatty acids) and some protein.
Yay for a new food victory! (He can’t get enough!) 🙂
